It appears we are quickly approaching a U.S. Senate confirmation vote on Judge Neil Gorsuch to fill the vacant seat on the U.S. Supreme Court. Several inside sources have indicated that the vote will likely take place on Friday – whether or not the Republicans will be required to employ a “nuclear option” is still unknown.
An overwhelming majority of Hoosiers have stood behind the Gorsuch nomination from the beginning. Judge Gorsuch is a constitutional originalist who values religious freedom and, we believe, would make a fantastic addition to the balance of the Court.
Indiana Sen. Todd Young announced his support for Judge Gorsuch early on, but it wasn’t until Sunday – after significant pressure from constituents – that Sen. Joe Donnelly, announced that he would also support Gorsuch’s nomination if the Senate rules remain unchanged. He did not, however, say that he would support Judge Gorsuch if the Senate leadership lowers the necessary 60-vote confirmation threshold to 51.
We need your help to ensure that Judge Gorsuch’s confirmation isn’t held up by an Indiana senator playing politics with this nomination. Here's how you can help:
Step 1: Help us send a message to Senator Donnelly by signing our petition. Judge Gorsuch is brilliantly qualified to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court, and he should be confirmed expeditiously.
Step 2: If you are able, would you consider joining our efforts by making a tax-deductible contribution? IFI relies on generous donors to keep Hoosiers in the loop on important issues like these. Your gift of $25, $35, $75, or more will go a long way.
We are grateful for the opportunity to serve you and your family, and we will keep you updated as the vote takes place.
For Such a Time As This,
