Attached for viewing is the special swearing-in ceremony held for State Senator Jim Banks. Senator Banks was reelected after learning that he would be doing a tour of duty in Afghanistan. Special accommodations had to be made via Skype by the Navy and the Indiana State House Staff. With private high school years not too distantly in my past, I cannot imagine a world where religion was not a part of my education. For those students who are not able to afford this privilege, we almost assume students are allowed to practice their faith on their own, on their own time. However, in Colorado Springs, there is a much different story. Administrators are fixated on stamping out religion, altogether, from the school. Although it is seen today as judgmental or condemnatory, we once had the freedom to define the religious act of marriage ourselves as citizens in this country. The Sixth Circuit went against the grain defending this freedom on November 6th, with the 4th, 7th, 9th and 10th circuits isssuing contradictory rulings. Although this ruling will likely be reviewed by the Supreme Court, there is something to be said about this stand and the language used to explain their decision seen in the following article. http://erlc.com/article/6th-circuit-...
