Good news! We reached our goal

12/31/24

We are incredibly excited to announce that we not only reached our 2024 fundraising goal, but substantially exceeded it! We are incredibly thankful for every person who helped make this possible; we couldn’t have done it without you. IFI will kick 2025 off fully-funded and ready to tackle issues head-on in the legislative session. We are blessed to serve a God “who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Eph. 3:20).

Keep in mind that any additional gift will enable us to expand our programs beyond what we initially thought possible for 2025. Every dollar will be put to use. If you want to help us grow our programs and push forward additional legislation that will defend your values, please consider making a contribution before midnight tonight!

Will you help us reach our goal?

12/28/24

2024 is nearly over, and it has been quite a year.

From passing pro-family and pro-freedom legislation, such as requiring age verification for explicit websites, to a court victory upholding Indiana’s law protecting minors from radical gender transition procedures, we consider 2024 to have been an immensely successful year in many ways. We know there are even more opportunities for success next year.

Below is a three minute recap of our annual Fall Dinner that we hosted in September, featuring Riley Gaines. It offers a glimpse into the work we do at IFI and the work we will continue in 2025.

In January we will begin the 2025 Legislative Session, and we need your help. We’re a long way off from reaching our $170,000 fundraising goal for this year, and time is running out.

We depend on Hoosiers like you to enable our work!

Your generosity equips the IFI team to put forth pro-family legislation, provide a resource for legal help through our Five Freedoms Project, connect churches with legislators through the Church Ambassador Network, and train future Hoosier leaders through the Hoosier Leadership Series.

We humbly ask that you prayerfully consider including the Indiana Family Institute in your year-end giving as we prepare for the 2025 Legislative Session.

Merry Christmas from IFI!

12/24/24

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” – Isaiah 9:6

This Christmas Eve, we’re taking time to reflect on the gift of Christ and all He means to us. Let’s lift up His name this Christmas season – above all the hustle and bustle, presents, and travel plans – and rejoice in His birth, which made His saving death and resurrection possible. We would be nowhere without Him, and we are humbled to call Him Wonderful, Counsellor, the mighty God, everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace.

President Harry Truman’s words from his Christmas Eve Address in 1949 still ring true today:

“Since returning home, I have been reading again in our family Bible some of the passages which foretold this night. We miss the spirit of Christmas if we consider the Incarnation as an indistinct and doubtful, far-off event unrelated to our present problems. We miss the purport of Christ’s birth if we do not accept it as a living link which joins us together in spirit as children of the ever-living and true God. In love alone – the love of God and the love of man – will be found the solution of all the ills which afflict the world today.”

Merry Christmas to you and your family! We hope you enjoy a restful holiday centered on celebrating the birth of Christ.

We need your help

12/16/24

Last week we told you our vision for the 2025 Legislative Session and our plan to defend parental rights at the Statehouse. You may be wondering what else is on the agenda for 2025.

In the upcoming session, we plan to support legislation that:

  • Defends Female College Athletes – In 2022, IFI led the charge to protect girls’ sports in K-12 education. Although that bill passed into law it did not include protection for female college athletes. The NCAA, whose national headquarters are in Indianapolis, opposed protections for female college athletes here in Indiana and have been the leading opponent around the country in state after state where our sister organizations have attempted to protect the rights of women and girls. Pushing legislation forward to protect female athletes is one of our top priorities for 2025. Click here to take a brief survey about your views on protections for women’s sports.
  • Protects Children – If the last few “Pride Months” taught us anything, it’s that radical LGBT advocates are after our children. Not only did they shout it in the streets, they proved it with their contradictory “kid-friendly drag shows.” During the 2024 Legislative Session, we successfully passed the first-ever age verification law in Indiana to prevent children from viewing explicit adult content online. In 2025, we want to continue that winning streak and strengthen public decency laws so that children are not exposed to obscene drag shows at Pride festivals.
  • Advocates for Biblical History in Schools – So far, two states (Oklahoma and Louisiana) have implemented standards requiring the Ten Commandments and/or biblical history to be taught in public schools, not as some form of “religious indoctrination,” but because both the Ten Commandments and the Bible are inextricably linked to this nation’s history. Many of our justice system’s core principles are grounded in the Ten Commandments. Our forefathers faithfully believed in the truths of the Bible and it shaped their worldview when drafting the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, and more. The Bible and American history simply cannot be separated, but the liberal education institutions in our nation have tried to do just that. It’s time to reintroduce biblical history and the Ten Commandments back into our education system – we know society and our children will be better off for it. In the upcoming legislative session, we are committed to exploring this topic further and helping speak into legislation that would reinstate biblical history in public education.
  • Supports Universal School Choice – Our fundamental view is that parents have the God-given right to direct the upbringing of their children, and that includes choosing the school they should attend. Universal school choice gives parents the ability to choose the best educational institution that will meet their children’s needs. Many of the churches and schools in our network are keenly interested in universal vouchers as well, as it would remove the heavy administrative burden of gathering financials from every applicant. We aim to support legislation to that end in the upcoming session.

We need your financial support to help us accomplish these goals in 2025. Cultural changes – good and bad – are deeply impacted by legislation that our representatives enact into law. We need to push our state’s culture in the right direction.

IFI is on the frontlines fighting to ensure that your values are protected and your family has the opportunity to thrive in our state. We have seen incredible progress over the past year that we are immensely grateful for – but it has not come without a price tag.

Our goal is to generate $170,000 in donations by December 31st so we can pursue the plans God has called us to in 2025. Will you help us reach that goal?

We know we can make it to the finish line with your support. And remember – every dollar counts! Your pledge of $25, $50, or $100 goes a long way. Click HERE to donate.

Preparing for 2025

12/11/24

As 2024 quickly comes to a close, IFI is busy preparing for the 2025 Legislative Session. The Indiana General Assembly alternates between short and long legislative sessions each year. Since 2025 is an “odd” year, this will be a long session, commencing on January 8 and concluding on April 29, at the latest, for a total of 61 non-consecutive days. This is nearly twice as long as last year’s short session, in which we accomplished a great deal. We are hopeful that this longer session will allow us to push even more legislation forward that supports our chief goals of protecting faith, family, and freedom in our state.

While we don’t have specifics on bills that will be filed yet, we do know what IFI’s main focus for the session will be: solidifying parental rights in our state.

In early March, we received the news that the US Supreme Court made the devastating decision to deny the petition of Mary and Jeremy Cox to defend religious liberty and parental rights on a national level. Now it is up to our state leaders and elected officials to bring justice to this family and prevent any others from experiencing the heartbreak and injustice these parents endured after their child was stripped from their custody because they did not support his “gender transition.”

Throughout the 2025 session, we will be working on legislation to prevent this injustice from occurring to any other families. One practical way you can engage in this issue is by using our form to send a pre-written email to the state leaders involved in decisions regarding parental rights. Click the button below to sign. Nearly 500 Hoosiers have already taken action, and every voice matters.

Thanks to support from people like you, the Indiana Family Institute can devote the time, energy, and resources required to make good legislation happen. Would you consider helping us reach our year-end fundraising goal so we can begin 2025 with the resources we need to support your values in the legislature, courts, and our communities?

Our enemies are not going to give up on their agenda and neither are we. Your financial support to the Indiana Family Institute is one of the most impactful you can make to protect future generations – our children and grandchildren. Click HERE to donate.

Please keep us in your prayers as we prepare for the 2025 Legislative Session.
