Memorial Day weekend is upon us, and its timing is an important reminder for each of us, particularly as we are in the middle of monumental debates in Indiana and our nation at large.
Those passionate debates, the victories and shortcomings experienced in our legislatures, and the emotional election days many of us have felt can at times seem all-encompassing. As stressful as those events may be, it’s breathtaking to stop and realize that these struggles we may consider a burden at times are truly a privilege given to us by the men and women who have laid down their lives for the flag.
From our nation’s founding, valiant patriots have lived out John 15:13 – and we all owe our precious freedoms to every single one of them.
I wish you and your families a peaceful Memorial Day weekend, and may we all honor our nation’s heroes who have gone before us by living out America’s freedoms with joy.
