School Bathroom Policies Enable Predators

Loudoun County School Board in Virginia is making headlines after reportedly covering up an incident where a freshman girl was raped by a 15-year-old biological, skirt-wearing male in the girl’s bathroom due to the school’s unscientific bathroom policy. The attacker was charged and then transferred to a different school where he forced another teenaged girl into a classroom where he also sexually assaulted her.

A recent report revealed that the school board covered up the first assault when these controversial bathroom policies were under review back in June. When asked about concerning assault cases in bathrooms at a public school board meeting, Superintendent Scott Ziegler responded that, “The predator transgender student or person simply does not exist” and “We don’t have any record of assaults occurring in our restrooms.”

Yet, Scott Smith, the father of the girl attacked in the women’s restroom, attended that school board meeting and was trying to warn community members about what happened to his daughter before the board voted to approve and enshrine the bathroom policy, allowing any student to use whichever restroom or locker room they preferred based on “identity.” The school board silenced him, had him removed, and voted to approve the policy.

This is why parents across the nation are fed up.

The school board allowed males into female restrooms, covered up a sexual assault, transferred the attacker to a different school where he assaulted another female student, pretended as if the bathroom policy posed no threat to students, and voted to approve it.

These senseless policies put our children in danger, and they begin with bowing to the demands to use “chosen” names and pronouns.

Here in Indiana, high school music teacher John Kluge was forced to resign at Brownsburg High School after he refused to use the “chosen” names and pronouns of students who wished to identify as anything other their biological sex. What happened in Loudoun County, Virginia, is an example of why courageous warriors like Kluge are fighting to defend religious freedom and biological reality. Kluge is being represented by Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) and is in the process of appealing his case.

Across the country and even here in Indiana, progressive politics are dominating school boards and not only indoctrinating students with baseless ideas but also putting them in danger.

These policies are being forced upon parents and they are told that parental rights don’t matter – “justice” and “equity” do. The irony is that those supposedly just policies have already resulted in horrific events taking place, as did in Loudoun County.

What happened to John Kluge in Indiana showed parents the threat that religious freedom is under, and what happened and is being uncovered in Loudoun County is finally waking up parents across the nation.

These policies cannot continue.

Despite DOJ warnings, now is not the time for parents to back down.
